The M.Sc. International Business Management program at the Berlin School of Economics and Law offers a highly international focus. It builds upon a foundation of basic concepts, theories, and applied business administration to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of international management. The program covers both strategic and operational aspects, emphasizing a project-based and applied approach.
Students have the option to specialize in either
The International Management specialization explores current issues in general international management as well as applied topics relevant to networked global businesses, such as entrepreneurship and media.
The Digital Business Management & Leadership specialization prepares students for managerial roles in the digital era, focusing on the impact of digitization on business models, value chains, marketing, and leadership. This specialization includes seminar-style lectures, case discussions, and a "Digital Business Safari" to explore digital business hotspots in the Berlin area.
The program incorporates practice-based projects to develop students' problem-solving skills and their ability to creatively apply knowledge to international issues. Guest speakers from relevant fields provide real-world perspectives, and the program emphasizes cooperative learning in an international context. Instruction is in English, and the student cohort is diverse in terms of nationality. Additionally, there is a study visit to a partner university in London.
Regular exchanges with fellow students and faculty support scholarly and cultural learning. In addition to the focus on applied tasks, students also gain scholarly methodology and research skills.
The program covers 12 modules, each concluding with an exam. It provides fundamental cross-sector and cross-functional skills and knowledge in international management. The program duration is 15 months, starting in the fall. The first two semesters focus on teaching modules, while the third semester is dedicated to thesis writing. The program is worth 90 credits (ECTS).
The program is designed for applicants from Germany and overseas who hold a first degree and have at least one year of work experience. It is particularly suitable for graduates in fields closely related to business administration, such as business informatics, business communication, or media management, from both state and private universities, who are interested in pursuing a postgraduate degree in general international management.
Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded the internationally recognized degree of M.Sc. (Master of Science) in International Business Management by the Berlin School of Economics and Law.
